"Lynda Sandoval is a former police officer-turned novelist with fourteen books and numerous shourt stories and articiles to her credit. She's the author of Unsettling, and also writes young-adult novels for Simon & Schuster and romance novels for Harlequin Books. She still doesn't speak Spanish...but she regrets that particular act of rebelliousness and she definitely wants to learn. She's based in Denver, Colorado" (Border-Line Personalities 295).

 

 

Maria Hinojosa is an award-winning journalist. At the time of the publication of Border-line Personalities, she was "CNN's urban affairs correspondent based in the network's New York Bureau. Hinojosa has written two books, the critically acclaimed memoir Raising Raul: Aventures Raising Myself and My Son and a book that grew from an award-winning story about gang members, Crews--Gang Members Talk with Maria Hinojosa" (Border-Line Personalities 293).

 

 

Michelle Herrera Mulligan is co-editor of Border-Line Personalities. She is "a writer originally from Chicago, Illinois. She's published articles in Time, Publishers Weekly, and Teen People magazines, among others. She was an associate articles editor at Latina and co-ordinated a special issue of Time Latin America focusing on young Mexican leaders" (295).

 

 

Shirley Velasquez is "a freelance writer living in New York City. She was an associate editor at Ms. Magazine, and her articles have appeared in various publications, ranging from the South China Morning Post, to Criticas, and Complex magazine" (Border-Line Personalities 296).

 

Carmen R. Wong is a personal finace expert and writer. At the time of the publication, she was "an editor at Money magazine. She has a master's degree in psychology from Columbia University and an undergraduate degree in art history and psychology from Fairfield University. She formerly worked in public relations and spent several years in the art business, primarily at Christie's auction house, where her last post was as business manager of the Latin and South American offices" (Border-Line Personalities 296)

 

Border-Line Personalities is an anthology of personal essays and memoir pieces editted by Robyn Moreno and Michelle Herrera Mulligan that brings together a diverse group of more than twenty Latina American writers. Below, you will find the profiles of just some of the contributors to the book.

Robyn Moreno is co-editor of Border-Line Personalities. According to the contributors section of the book, Robyn Moreno is "a writer/editor based in New York City. A native Texan, she is a former editor at InStyle and Latina magazine. She coauthored a fashion book, Suave: The Latin Male (Universe, 2001), and has written for Woman's Day and Glamour, among other national publications" (294).

 

 

Cecilia Balli is a freelance writer and an assistant professor of Anthropology. At the time of the publication, she was "a writer at large for Texas Monthly and a doctoral student in cultural anthropology. A graduate of Standford University, she has written for the San Antonio Express-News, the Brownsville Herald, and Latina Magazine" (Border-Line Personalities 291).
